Hi, I’m Alice Watts and I specialize in the retirement plan industry, bringing 25+ years’ experience to help you solve your writing needs.
Why is this important? I’ve worked with pension plans as an administrator and consultant. And because I’ve been on the other side, I’m able to understand your clients and their perspectives. I understand their struggles to keep their retirement plans compliant and their participants engaged, and yours as you assist them. As a CEBS graduate, I maintain my Fellowship status by taking continuing education programs designed to keep me in touch with current events.
I became a copywriter in a roundabout way. After college I worked in a pension office, then took a sabbatical to earn an M.A. in Medieval Art History from SMU in Dallas Texas, specializing in 12th century manuscripts. I returned to the pension industry and was most recently a retirement benefits analyst with a large northern California health care company when I decided I wanted to return to my roots in Texas.
I’ve taken professional development courses in both creative writing and copywriting, earning a certificate in non-fiction writing from UC Davis Extension. My copywriting training has mainly been with American Writers & Artists, Inc. (AWAI) including B2B courses with Steve Slaunwhite and email copywriting with Jay White.
My work tool bag includes articles/blogs, white papers, and case studies in addition to email campaigns. I love writing and research and have served as a project manager.
When not writing I enjoy sports, especially Dallas Cowboys football, and am an avid reader from art and history to mysteries and crime novels to science fiction. I’ve had several articles published, and am expecting my latest article to be printed by American History magazine in the near future. I live in the DFW area of Texas with my toy poodle Maggie.
